Unlike the other games on this list, The Elder Scrolls Online is an MMORPG, but that’s not to deny the great RPG elements that it has. Despite being multiplayer, you can enjoy the game thoroughly by playing by yourself, set in a world before any other Elder Scrolls game.
Tamriel during this time had a lot of strife and tension going on everywhere, and this game manages to pack a lot of content with updates continuing to this day. Bethesda has been notoriously good with its medieval setting in the Elder Scrolls, and hopefully that will keep being the case well into the future.

With a revamped art style in comparison to the first game, it brings back the same difficulty and grind that brought it so many fans. Here you take on the various creatures that inhabit the world with Medieval characters such as the Plague Doctor, Highwayman, and Leper. Just don't get attached to them.
13 Medieval Dynasty
Start A Lineage
Medieval Dynasty is set against the backdrop of a medieval European countryside, where your purpose in life is to build, survive, and thrive in the Middle Ages. As a medieval villager, you start with absolutely nothing and have to navigate the challenges of survival just like how they used to do in the olden days.
The game has a strong focus on realism and immersion, a far cry from the grand narratives that have always been preferred by studios, and instead offers you a simulation of an ordinary person in those days. When it comes to Medieval RPGs, this game is a diamond in the rough.

Chaos-fueled barbarians, evil rat men, and darker things to boot all hunt you and your squad from mission to mission as you struggle to stay alive, let alone accomplish your goals.

It's a tense game that pulls away from some of the more grand RPG elements, but the character archetypes and setting are everything a fan of medieval RPGs will know and love. No match plays quite the same as you dodge all the dangers this game has to offer.

The Fable series was one of the games that stood out from the rest of the pack when it comes to RPGs. While Fable 3 does lean towards the fantastical pretty hard, it has enough of the medieval era in its setting to make fans of other games on this list feel welcome.
It's a grand plot as any RPG out there, with you as the leader of a nation that is falling under attack from an ominous and deadly force. Loot, dungeons, and difficult choices are around every corner in this third installment.

Dark Souls is also set in a medieval period with a completely different history and some intense fantasy elements, but it’s one of the most fun combat systems in a video game ever and has stood the test of time.
Everything about Dark Souls, from the bosses to the lore, to even the basic enemies hiding behind a corner, all serve a purpose in the story in the most subtle of ways, and for this reason, all three games will forever be considered classics.
